Cannes Lions: Where to See the Stars
WPP is bringing Elon Musk to Cannes. See the rest of the bold faced names, when and where to find them.
The film stars just left Cannes a few weeks ago, now it’s for the marketing business to flex. A whole host of bold faced names from sports, technology, and media are hitting Cannes tonight. I’ve put together a list of who’s hosting who and where to find the events.
Don’t forget to request credentials and bring your biggest battery pack for all the reels you will undoubtedly post from inside the surreal bubble of the Riviera these next five days. If I’ve missed your event, this list is being constantly updated. Get in touch: ThemediamixUS@gmail.com. (Double check the events with the organizers as things change.)
MONDAY
Sport Beach will host the former Chicago Bears wide receiver, Brandon Marshall as part of an event co-hosted by Hearst and Stagwell at 9 am. Catch snowboarder Shaun White at noon at the same place. French soccer superstar Eric Cantona, who played for Manchester United, is on at 1.30 pm. Sport Beach sign up is here.
Inside the Palais, Kara Swisher interviews John Legend and Chrissy Teigen at 11.45 am. John Legend will also perform at a private Spotify soiree in the hills. Spotify celebrating ten years at The Lions is also unleashing Benson Boone, Tyla, Shaboozey, and Arcade Fire, and DJ Justice this week on the beach.
Brand Innovators and everyone’s favorite tech translator Shelly Palmer is hosting “Tipsy” artist Shaboozey at a Monday event at the Villa Ephrussi. He’s known as “Boozey” for short. Make your own jokes.
TUESDAY
Get your coffee fix and head to Sport Beach at 9 am to catch basketball’s Sue Bird and soccer’s Megan Rapinoe at Business Insider’s event. Ace snowboarder Chloe Kim is up at 1.30 pm to talk about fandom. Page Six is hosting NFL star Brandon Marshall for cocktails at 4.30 pm. (Too early for alcohol? It’s always cocktail hour in Cannes.)

If you love Kenan Thompson’s Black Jeopardy sketches for SNL as much as I do, then you’ll want to head to the Palais to watch him talk with VML about how brands can harness humor. That’s at noon at the Debussy theater. Details here.
I’ll be interviewing everyone’s favorite lady rapper/actress and fellow New Jersey fan Queen Latifah at the Palais along with Tejal Vishalpura, Novo Nordisk’s svp, commercial strategy and marketing at 4.45 pm.
Big hearted chef José Andrés appears on Tuesday at 6 pm at the JW Marriott at the Brand Innovators/Shelly Palmer event.
Then it’s off to Antibes to the exclusive Hotel du Cap Eden Roc, where iHeart and MediaLink guests will rock their air guitars (or just sway politely) to the leather clad, clean-living rocker Lenny Kravitz. Here’s your background reading on Lenny, whose parents raised him in the entertainment business.
WEDNESDAY
Rub your eyes, you are not dreaming Elon Musk is back to address/insult a room full of advertisers. WPP chief Mark Read is hosting a session titled, “Exploring the New Frontiers of Innovation,” and will touch on “how AI is reshaping creativity, business and society and the future of X.” Head to the Lumiere Theater in the Palais at 10 am for this session. Details here.
Pump your breaks at 11.40 pm for Formula 1 driver Lando Norris on deck at the WPP program. He will chat about the “high performance mindset.”
See basketball legend Carmelo Anthony at Sport Beach. He’s there to preview a Wines and Spirits event at 3 pm. Now you are loosened up, learn how to prioritize your mental health with Deepak Chopra at 3.30 pm.
Wednesday is Juneteenth and the NAACP is commemorating the moment with a exclusive cocktails gathering at a private home just outside of Cannes.
THURSDAY
Don’t leave town too soon. Who would want to miss Mr. Serena Williams and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, also the owner of Angel City FC at 12.30 pm. He’s been teasing on X that he’s finally going to drop some news.
And if you think of yourself as more cerebral, then don’t miss blockbuster author James Paterson, with Ogilvy delivering a masterclass at 12.30 pm in the Palais. Did you know he used to be in advertising?
End your week with the most famous brothers on earth right now Travis and Jason Kelce, who are set to record their podcast at 1pm at Sport Beach. Just don’t ask if Taylor is coming.
FRIDAY.
It Ain't Over, Til It’s Over folks! Nobel peace prize winner Maria Resa is in town to wrap up the week. This Cannes Lionheart winner will talk about the importance of truth and the fight against dictatorship. And now for your flight back to reality.
