CNN's Chris Marlin to exit the network.
Licht's real estate developer friend Marlin was hired to boost revenue at the company
Chris Marlin is leaving CNN in the wake of the firing of CNN chairman and CEO Chris Licht, a month ago.
The CNN management issued a note Friday burying the news midway down a memo after detailing a series of recent wins in news.
Marlin who was EVP, strategy and business operations, will be replaced partly by Cynthia Hudson, who will now report to Washington bureau chief and senior vice president, Sam Feist, according to the memo.
Warner Bros. Discovery’s chief corporate affairs officer David Leavy joined the network as chief operating officer in recent weeks to oversee business operations.
The memo also references a WBD IMO Transformation role which will be led by CNN veteran Ken Jautz.
Marlin’s arrival at CNN raised eyebrows given his lack of news experience. The executive was president of Florida-based property developer Lennar International before his arrival at Hudson Yards. Marlin did not add his CNN role to his LinkedIn profile.
