The proposed $111 billion deal to turn Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery is poised to create the world’s biggest and most powerful news and information giant. A host of global outlets from CBS News, CNN, CNN International, joint venture CNN Arabic connected to TikTok has broad implications for our perceptions of the world.

“We’ve never seen a company that combined the strength in so called traditional media as PSky [Paramount Skydance] will have going forward with Oracle, the presence in social media, that’s just never happened,” said Jon Miller, chief executive of TPG-backed investment firm Integrated Media. Miller also ran AOL and was on the board of ad giant Interpublic Group. He knows exactly the power such an entity will have in targeting advertising based on viewing data. “It’s training and targeting data in a way that we’ve never seen before,” he adds, suggesting it could be, “the most culturally influential company ever created.”
